Tahoe's West Shore stretches between vibrant Tahoe City and picturesque Emerald Bay, encompassing communities of Homewood, Tahoma, Sunnyside, Tahoe Pines, Meek's Bay, Chamber's Landing and Twin Peaks Estates.
Nature beckons daily in these communities, with abundant, easily accessible hiking trails, beaches, marinas and state parks, ski resorts and a multitude of cross-country ski trails.
West Shore ski resorts include Homewood and Granlibakken. For golfers, nearby Tahoe City offers a nine-hole course, or a little further is the Resort at Squaw Valley.
Any outdoor recreation fathomable can be found here, in any season. Mountain and road bike trails plus hiking paths meander through the forest, with ever-present glimpses of cerulean blue beyond. In the summer, water sports abound, such as water skiing, wake boarding, parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving and paddle boarding. Boat-in restaurants and bars make it easy to fuel up while out on the water.
A visit to the West Shore is not complete without a stop at the captivating National Natural Landmark at Emerald Bay - formed by receding glaciers and now renown as one of the most photographed.
